We are thrilled to announce the launch of the ‘Discover and Win’ campaign by Barnet Council, aimed at promoting a greener future for our borough.

This initiative is a result of the collaborative efforts of the Citizens’ and Young People’s Assembly, which took place in February 2023. The assemblies brought together young and adult residents to tackle the important question, “How can we make Barnet more sustainable?” Participants engaged in thoughtful discussions and generated 20 key recommendations across 5 key themes that will guide us towards a sustainable future include:

  • Waste and Sustainable Consumption,
  • Learning, Communication and Partnerships,
  • Nature, Biodiversity and Green Space,
  • Transport and
  • Housing, Buildings and Energy.

To raise awareness and inspire action, the ‘Discover and Win’ campaign, launched during London Climate Action Week and Plastic Free July, features captivating live illustrations showcasing the citizens’ assembly process and a video by participants bringing their recommendations to life. Watch the inspiring video and explore the set of recommendations and actions we can all take to contribute to Barnet’s journey towards becoming a net zero carbon borough by 2042.

As an incentive to participate, Barnet residents can enter a prize-draw to win green giveaways, from reusable BarNET ZERO water bottles, which contribute to reducing plastic waste, to ‘grow your own herbs’ kits and slow cookers to help save money on your meals. Entries close on 4 August (full terms and conditions available on the website).
