Downsizing

The Fresh Start Scheme helps secure tenants to downsize to a smaller property within the London Borough of Barnet.

Receive money when you downsize

• We offer between £1,500 to £4,000 to eligible tenants who downsize to a smaller property. Please note that if you have rent arrears, this will be deducted from your Fresh Start payment.
• If you are affected by the Under Occupancy Charge, we can assist you to downsize to a smaller property to reduce or remove the charge.
• Downsizing to a smaller home could also save you money on your heating bills.

To register for the Fresh Start Scheme, please contact the Fresh Start Team on 0208 359 4695. They will make an appointment to visit you in your home if you are a Barnet Homes secure tenant only. Barnet homes does not make home visits to Housing Association tenants who are eligible to join the scheme.
