Kim – Moves from Barnet to Kingston upon Thames

Kim relocated with her son, from Barnet to Kingston upon Thames to be closer to her daughters. Using the Mutual Exchange Scheme, Kim swapped her 2 bed house for a 2 bed maisonette with fellow home swapper, Lisa.

What made you use the mutual exchange scheme to relocate to Kingston?

Kim: “I loved my two-bed house in Barnet; it was going to be my forever home. But when my daughters moved to Kingston to study, then later settled there, I wanted to live closer to them and my grandchildren. I’d been on the Mutual Exchange home swapper for a while. I met Lisa on home swapper, and we found our connection. I didn’t care much for my garden as it was too much to maintain. Now I’m settled in central Kingston within walking distance of the shops, in a property similar in size to what I had in Barnet. I’m very happy with my move.”

Lisa – Moves from Kingston upon Thames to Barnet

Why did you want to move from your 2 bed flat in Kingston to the 2 bedroom house in Barnet?
“I really needed to move to a house with a garden for my little boy. This house has an amazing sized garden! Also, I’ve moved closer to my family and my partner’s family in north London, actually halving the journey time that it took from Kingston. I’d say that the exchange has worked out better all round.”

What would you say to those thinking about swapping homes under the Mutual Exchange scheme?
“Just try it, sign up to home swapper. Go have a look at what’s out there. Don’t give up, and be realistic. My criteria changed over the time I was searching, but I stuck with it and found a home that really suited me with my situation.”
