The judging of this year’s Finest Flowers Competition took place on Friday 28 July. Judges had a really tough time as usual, as the standard keeps getting higher and higher. Our residents from all across Barnet are so proud of their hard work over the year in nurturing such beautiful gardens bringing pleasure to all. Although in our eyes every entrant is a winner, this year’s stand outs were;
Best communal garden – Upper Alexandra Road Garden Club
Best front/back garden – John Barratt
Best new gardener – Nadine Allfree
Best sheltered housing garden – Vale Court Garden club
Best balcony/display container – Simmons Way Garden Club
Geoff Bedingfield award for the most outstanding garden – Debbie Docherty

Best communal garden – Upper Alexandra Road Garden Club

Norman from Alexandra Road, said “Doing my garden means everything to me, especially when people stop and tell me how lovely it is.”

Best front/back garden – John Barratt

John said, “I’m much better outside, gardening is my life.”

Best new gardener – Nadine Allfree

Nadine said, “All the effort and hard work is worth it when you see the result.”

Best sheltered housing garden – Vale Court Garden Club

Maggie from Vale Court said, “Gardening keeps me active.” Paul said, “It keeps me sane!” Meleqe added, “It makes my day.”

Best balcony/display container – Simmons Way Garden Club

The resident from Simmons Way said, “Gardening means joy, pleasure, and peacefulness.”

Geoff Bedingfield award for the most outstanding garden – Debbie Docherty

Debbie from Bittacy Court, said “ Gardening brings the block and community together and I love being outside.”
