Dear Ms O’Hara,

Thank you for your request dated 21 June 2022, we have treated this as a Freedom of Information request. You have asked for the following information; please see our responses below in blue:

In relation to the Grange Estate and surrounding areas to include Tarling Road sites, Brownswell Road sites and any other sites connected to the development of ‘Grange Estate and surrounding areas’:

  1. Please advise in full the amended plans for the Grange Estate and surrounding areas i.e., what are the changes to the plans which were outlined at the February Exhibition hosted by Instinctif and Barnet Homes?

These plans and changes will be shared at the public exhibition on 28 June 2022 and uploaded to the project website thereafter. They will also viewable on the planning portal once the application has been submitted.

  1. Please outline the date this decision to amend plans was taken, by whom, and the full reasoning for this decision.

Representatives from Barnet Council and the Barnet Homes New Build team met with the Chair of the Housing & Growth Committee and ward members on 30 May 2022. At this meeting, it was jointly agreed not to proceed with the proposals for Brownswell Road and Tarling Road due to the high level of public opposition and the commitment in the new administration’s manifesto not to build on green space.

  1. Please advise if there are any future development plans for Brownswell Road and Tarling Road sites.

There are no plans at present.

  1. Please advise plans for development at High Road and Central Avenue sites to include if any new homes will be built, or any change of tenure to homes.

The proposed sites at High Road and Central Avenue are predominantly as shown at the exhibition in February and still provide 8 new homes each. There is a new proposal for minor improvements to the landscaping and parking at Willow Walk. This will be available to view at the exhibition on 28 June 2022 or the project website thereafter. The new homes will still be constructed for London affordable rent.
