Thank you for your request dated 24 April 2023, we have treated this as a Freedom of Information request. You have asked for the following information; please see our responses below in blue:

“Under the Energy Price Act brought in on 25 October 2022, the Government introduced a range of schemes to provide support for energy bills and established a requirement that energy price support is passed on to your tenants who live in sheltered housing schemes and who are charged a flat rate for their heating and hot water in an all-inclusive rent. This means that intermediaries, such as Barnet Homes, in receipt of support from the Government schemes must pass a just and reasonable amount of the benefit obtained to the end users of the energy, your tenants, the intended beneficiaries of the relevant schemes.

Has Barnet Homes received any level of Government support for the communal heating systems in its sheltered housing schemes. If it has, what schemes benefitted and were the tenants notified?”

  • Barnet Homes Ltd is not, nor was it, in receipt of any government or similar energy schemes.
