If you are over 55, or have a family member or friend who is, the 1st-7th October is going to be a busy week.

Because the 1st-7th October marks Silver Week in Barnet, which is now in its fifth year. There’s art exhibitions, coffee mornings, wellbeing workshops and therapy treatments.

Silver Week is all about celebrating the extremely valuable contribution older people make to our communities – at the same time as reducing loneliness and isolation.

For the full schedule of events for across Silver Week, please visit: www.barnet.gov/silverweek

The Silver Week action kicks off on Sunday 1st October, known as Silver Sunday (of course) and many of the events on that Sunday are free.

Barnet Homes and Your Choice Barnet are also supporting Silver Week with some of our own activities. For example, who knew many of our residents living in our sheltered housing schemes and supported living were budding artists? An exhibition of their works can be viewed right now at our main offices at 2 Bristol Avenue, London, NW9 4EW.

And our partners BOOST are holding a Prevention & Wellbeing Adult Social Care Drop-In Surgery on Thursday 3rd October, 10am – 12 Noon at 184 Cricklewood Lane, NW2 2DX. Call 020 8359 7047 or email stephen.bell@Barnet.gov.uk

Our Performance Advisory Group (PAG) have supported Silver Week by being a sponsor of the events, contributing £750.00 using the First Time Access Fund.

Enjoy Silver Week and keep checking our website and Facebook for updates.
