Our most recent crop of apprentices started with us back in September 2017 – and they’ve certainly had a busy six months at The Barnet Group.

The experience and skills you gain from an apprenticeship with us are wide and far reaching – from frontline housing services to office based roles. You also get day release to attend college and complete an academic qualification in housing management or social care.

Scott is an apprentice for the Neighbourhoods Team and he has found the experience brilliant for developing his career goal of becoming an anti-social behaviour officer:

“My team is a very busy one as I have to liaise with so many other departments, including Voids & Lettings, Estate Services and Rental Income. This experience will come in handy when I have to attend court as part of the role as an asb officer in the future.”

Havanna is an apprentice with Corporate Services and the apprenticeship has provided her with her first work experience since leaving school last summer. She has found the training particularly useful:

“I have really enjoyed the training you get as as part of the apprenticeship programme. I have gained lots of knowledge and come away with lots of information I can apply to the job. I would be interested in a job in the housing in the future.”

Tracey works as an apprentice for our Leasehold team:

“I have also been shadowing with other departments – communications and voids and lettings – it’s been good to break it up! I also got to visit Barnet Council’s Anti-Fraud Team, which was really interesting.”
