Next month from 1-7 October is Silver Week, which is Silver Line’s awareness week. Did you know that the Silver Line is the only national, free, confidential helpline for lonely and isolated older people?

Tackling loneliness is a huge part of supporting a growing older population. Our Sheltered Housing services help older people continue to have great social life at the same time having the added peace-of-mind living in supported housing.

Recently residents from our Sheltered Housing scheme celebrated the end of summer with a lovely garden party and barbeque.  Of course, the residents enjoy socialising at these events plus events like these have the added bonus of improving their health and well-being.

The BBQ took place at Vale Court followed by a garden Party at St Johns Close. Tenants from Drummond House, The Potteries, Rectory Close and Wimbush House joined the event with Neighbourhood Housing Officers and other colleagues from Barnet House.  There was plenty of food, music and laughter.

We will be taking part in Silver Week by staging a number of events for older people as well as joining in with some events Barnet Council will be hosting in Barnet as part of the week.

Keep checking our website – updates on Silver Week will be posted soon!

The Silver Line is the only national, free, confidential helpline for lonely and isolated older people offering information, advice and friendship. The helpline is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. For more information, please visit: www.thesilverline.org.u
