Barnet Homes, Barnet Council’s Community Safety Team and local Police have joined forces to tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB) head-on at the Grahame Park Estate.

With forces combined, Barnet Homes has carried out partnership walkabouts and issued five community protection warnings/notices to deter people from coming back onto the estate who do not live here.

A successful closure order has been placed on one of the estate’s blocks. It is the first block closure order that Barnet Homes has been able to obtain by working with Barnet Council’s Community Safety Team and the Police. We hope this shows that we are using every method possible to deter anti-social behaviour (ASB) on the estate.

Alongside this, Barnet Homes worked in partnership with Barnet Council who have had the overgrowth cut back from the walkway on the Heybourne Park area and removed graffiti from the walls. This is a walkway that some would avoid and now it is more open and no longer visually obscured. The Council will also be installing CCTV to the area which will help make it safer for you to use.

Keeping residents safe

A Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) has been put in place across the whole borough of Barnet to keep residents safe. This order covers a wide range of anti-social behaviour, such as causing harassment, alarm or distress to anyone else. It also includes things like

setting off fireworks in a public space, or not cleaning up after their dog. Penalties include fixed penalty notices and further prosecution for more serious crimes. In addition to this, Barnet Homes and Notting Hill Genesis have also been working together to carry out regular estate walkabouts where residents also attend and help us identify repairs that are required. We check that they have been completed and if not we find out why.

In addition to this, Barnet Homes and Notting Hill Genesis carry out monthly surgeries at 15 The Concourse on the first Tuesday of the month for anyone to drop in and speak to us between 10am – 12noon and 2pm – 4pm.
