Volunteers from across the Barnet Group joined forces to support with finishing touches to the outdoor space at Your Choice Barnet’s care home and day centre Meadowside, in Woodside Park, North London.
Each volunteer got the opportunity to learn new skills, socialise with people outside of their own team and make a big difference to the outdoor facilities at Meadowside. The works carried out were in preparation for the re-opening of Meadowside, following a recent refurbishment to the internal building. The volunteers were tasked with supporting with improving the look and feel of the outdoor space. Works included painting and repurposing benches which has become rusty and requiring some much-needed TLC.
Thanks to the hard work of all the The Barnet Group volunteers, they have now created a space that is more welcoming and inviting for residents and their loved ones who come to visit.
Special thanks must go to the following people: Peter Chapman; Marcie Thomas; Oli Bloom; Kenan Stephens; Charmaine Carr; Ian Wolland; Firdous Abdullah; Judith Kunda and all the Your Choice Barnet team at Meadowside.
Judith Kanda, Leasehold Development Office/Compliance & Fire Safety Officer spoke of her experience volunteering:
“It was an enjoyable experience volunteering with Barnet Homes colleagues. It was refreshing to step outside of my regular job and do something good. I appreciated the experience.”
Sara White, Registered Manager of Meadowside Residential Care Home shares her thanks to the team involved in this project:
“I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who volunteered at Meadowside to improve the outdoor space. Following the major renovation works the garden needed some attention to ensure that residents could continue to enjoy spending time out there. Thanks to the volunteers the garden is now a much more welcoming space, and the summer house can now be enjoyed again after being out of use for the last year. Residents and their families have commented that the garden now looks much nicer.”
