Ansell Court nears completion

Last week, representatives from The Barnet Group were given a tour of a much-needed dementia-friendly extra care scheme – Ansell Court in Mill Hill.

Our contractors, Rydon, headed up the tour of the almost completed extra care scheme, which is going to make a big contribution to improving the lives of people living with dementia in Barnet.

Some of the scheme’s dementia-friendly features will include colour-coded walls schemes that will support orientation, a communal café and space to accommodate other facilities such as a shared lounge and hairdressers.

New Housing Committee Chair, Cllr Gabriel Rozenberg, also attended the Ansell Court tour.

Cllr Rozenburg said: “This is a much-needed facility to help with the growing demand for dementia focused accommodation in the borough. I’m really pleased to see the care and attention to detail that’s reflected in the layout and design of the scheme.”

Tim Edwards, Director of Rydon Construction added: “Working on Ansell Court with Barnet Homes and Barnet Council has been a real partnership. It’s also been great working with the architects PRP as they are really experienced in designing with dementia in mind.”

The previous scheme, Moreton Close, was very much involved in the community. Rydon has already been very active in involving the local church, Mill Hill East, and school children in the planning. As a result, Ansell Court looks set to be the centre of a vibrant community, too.
