This week staff at The Barnet Group attended the bi-annual staff conference, which this year was held at the Sangam Centre in Burnt Oak – where they were also had an inspiring speech from a special guest speaker.
The theme of the the staff conference and awards event was ‘Everyday Heroes’ and in keeping with that theme, positive stories, some from our customers, were shared with everyone. This included one where two officers from the Neighbourhoods Housing Team saved the life of an unborn child.
That guest was Lord Victor Adebowale CBE. Lord Adebowale talked about his journey from housing officer for Newham Council to Chief Executive of Turning Point, the drugs, alchohol and mental health charity.
He said working in housing was a real vocation that had the ability to help people and turn lives around.
We’re really looking forward to shining the spotlight on our residents – we’re having a thank-you party later in the year to recognise the hard work our residents do in the community. More details about the Barnet Homes Resident Thank You Party here.
