As part of The Barnet Group’s (TBG) commitment to improving the lives of Barnet residents, over £750,000 in social value has been invested, thanks to the support of contractors.
There was an extraordinary £754,506.23 in social value investment across Barnet during the 2024/25 financial year, more than doubling the previous year’s contribution.
This landmark achievement reflects The Barnet Group’s commitment to creating lasting, meaningful change with contractors going above and beyond to support local communities economically, socially, and environmentally.
TBG’s contractors have supported hundreds of residents through a wide range of initiatives, including:
- 19 local apprenticeships (12 trade, seven office-based), valued at £367,934.45, helping young people gain vital skills and employment
- 7 residents placed into full-time work, generating £263,145.00 in economic value
- DIY workshops delivered by Quinn London, empowering residents with practical home maintenance skills
- female fitness classes funded by Sun Realm Heating, promoting health and inclusion
- community events such as Urban Gamez and the Community Awards, attended by over 150 families and supported with £29,750.00 in sponsorship.
Contractors also contributed £15,905.69 to environmental improvements, including:
- gardening at Atholl House, Tadborne Court, and Valley Way Respite Centre
- installation of a new sun canopy at Rosa Morrison Day Centre
- creation of green spaces for growing fruit, vegetables, and herbs for residents to enjoy.
As well as these direct contributions, a large number of contractors have donated to TBG’s Community Chest Fund
The Community Chest Fund, sponsored by contractors, distributed over £11,000 to grassroots projects, including
- women’s wellbeing workshops
- local choirs and craft fairs
- social and wellbeing events for sheltered housing residents.
Here’s what those who have benefited the most had to say.
