We are very pleased to announce The Barnet Group is now a public signatory of the Business in the Community Race at Work Charter. We know that people from ethnic minority backgrounds still face significant disparities in employment and progression, and that is something we need to change.
The Charter is composed of seven calls to action for leaders and organisations across all sectors. These include:
- Appointing an Executive Sponsor for race
- Capturing data and publicising progress
- Ensuring zero tolerance of harassment and bullying
- Making equality in the workplace the responsibility of all leaders and managers
- Taking action that supports ethnic minority career progression
- Supporting race inclusion allies in the workplace
- Including Black, Asian, Mixed Race, and other ethnically diverse-led enterprise owners in supply chains.
Signing up means taking practical steps to ensure our workplace is tackling barriers that ethnic minority people face in recruitment and progression and that our organisation is representative of British society today. Our work on this will be taken forward as part of our forthcoming Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Strategy and our Race Equality Action Plan.
