As we all feel the impact of the cost of living crisis, The Barnet Group are offering our residents the chance to attend a free Money Saving Tips Workshop. The sessions are three hours long, and the fun interactive workshop will provide tips and advice on making savings or accessing funds that may be available to residents.

The workshops will be delivered thanks to a generous donation from our partner Travis Perkins who contributed 50% (£3,500) towards the cost of delivering the programme.

On completion of the course, participants will receive a £75 voucher (one per household) redeemable for household fuel or rent, and will be well-trained in how to save money, and make the most of what they’ve got.

Workshops will be delivered by Sonia Community and will start in January 2023, with 20 places available per workshop and are open to Barnet Homes and Opendoor Homes tenants and leaseholders. To book onto a course please email: ozge.karabulat@barnethomes.org or call: 020 8359 5593.

The Barnet Group’s Senior Income Collection Manager (Rents) Monique Arthur said: “Our main role is to sustain tenancies, and ensure our customers are equipped with enough information to manage their tenancies successfully. As we are all feeling the impact of the cost of living crisis, we wanted to explore ways to further support our customers.

“Many of our customers are unaware of help available, this could be financial help, benefit assistance, tips on budgeting or where savings can be made so we hope that these workshops can provide some assistance for our residents. They will be light, fun and helpful.”

Daniel Marsden, Account Manager at Travis Perkins added: “At Travis Perkins Managed Services, our mission is to make significant positive changes within the communities we work. Encouraging sustainable communities which are vibrant, healthy, safe, and where individuals thrive. We were delighted to support The Barnet Group with their cost of living initiative which provided money management training and budgeting skills to over 50 residents and their families. The initiative which gives residents the skills to manage money effectively and gain control of their finances is priceless.”
