Tim Mulvenna, chief executive of the organisation that manages the borough of Barnet’s council housing, has announced he is to step down this summer after more than six years in the post.
As chief executive of The Barnet Group, Mr Mulvenna has been responsible for leading Barnet Homes, which manages the council’s stock of 15,000 affordable properties; the council’s homelessness service Housing Options; registered housing provider Opendoor Homes; Bumblebee Lettings, a private lettings service for tenants and landlords; and Your Choice Barnet, the biggest provider of adult social care in the borough.
In his time at The Barnet Group, Mr Mulvenna has overseen many changes that have improved the safety of the homes provided by Barnet Homes with a significant fire safety programme (£52m), an unprecedented investment in existing homes as well as the roll out of a direct maintenance service which aims to improve the quality of repairs and maintenance for residents. More recently Barnet Homes has invested a further £2m in dealing with damp and mould.
Barnet Homes’ Housing Options provides Barnet Council’s statutory homelessness service and has grown to support around 6,000 people each year. Opendoor Homes has developed and acquired over 800 new homes. Barnet Homes is now working on plans to regenerate Colindale’s Grahame Park North East to provide new high-quality, affordable housing in the area.
Tim said: “It’s been an incredible privilege to serve the residents of Barnet. As chief executive, I’ve been proud to oversee the investment of millions of pounds to improve the quality of housing for thousands of people, to provide new housing for our growing population, and for developing our range of services that improve the lives of the thousands of people who depend on them.
“I love The Barnet Group and have enjoyed working with my brilliant team over the years who have achieved so much for our residents and service users in the past six years.”
