Looking after our mental health is crucial in contributing to our overall wellbeing. This Mental Health Awareness Week, we are looking at a group who champion positive health and encourage people to socialise in Barnet.

The Friendly place is a mental health support group that meets twice a month and reduces social isolation of those known to Barnet Homes’ Floating Support services.

Residents who would otherwise not have contact with others meet, chat and have lunch together. They are able to speak to a member of staff who can offer low-level support or signpost to appropriate services.

Preventing loneliness strengthens communities and tackles social isolation, The Friendly Place offers that to those who would otherwise not engage with other community groups.

The Friendly Place meets at Burnt Oak Library on the first and third Wednesday of the month from 10.30am to 1pm.
