High-speed internet is needed in residents’ homes now more than ever. With people working at home more often, using streaming services or studying online, it’s crucial that they are provided with an internet connection that is up to the job.

We’re building a Barnet that’s fit for today’s communities and the next generation of residents. To help achieve this, Barnet Homes has been working with Community Fibre and Barnet Council to enable residents to connect to affordable fibre broadband. So far, over 5,000 Barnet Homes’ properties have been connected as part of Barnet Council’s push to deliver high-speed, affordable fibre broadband and digital support services to all homes and town centres by 2025.

The installation of fibre broadband has been funded by Barnet Council and Community Fibre, meaning that Barnet Homes’ residents and leaseholders have not been charged for the works. It means that the infrastructure is in place should a resident choose to use Community Fibre as their internet provider.

The works enabling the connection have been carried out with minimal disruption to Barnet Homes’ residents, thanks to person centred resident liaison work and project management.

Electrical Supervisor Marios Pavli, who is working on the project said “As technology changes and we have an increasingly connected world, we have had to adapt along with it.  In order to provide our residents with the most up to date fibre broadband systems we have been working closely with various operators to achieve this.”

“There is a digital divide between those who do and don’t have internet, so we are proud of the work as we ensure they work to our usual high standards and know that the positive effects for residents will benefit all.”

Community Fibre is currently offering discounted, and in some cases free broadband for Barnet Homes residents. To find out if you are eligible, visit boostbarnet.org or call 020 8359 2442.
