Dear Ms Brunt

Thank you for your email dated 18 May 2019; we have treated this as a Freedom of Information request.

Please see our responses below in red:

In 2012, after a fire in one of the Upper Fosters blocks, electrical rewiring work was undertaken. Please supply the following information:

Please confirm if this work was undertaken by S J Electrical South East Limited (formerly known as S J South East Construction Limited). If not, please clarify who did these works.

Barnet Homes have been in contract with Mears Group PLC since April 2012 for the provision of repair, maintenance and void property refurbishment works. Following an electrical fire in one of the Upper Fosters blocks in 2012, Mears were instructed through their contract with Barnet Homes to undertake some minor electrical works involving some testing and required remedial works to the domestic installations to 12 flats within the block. Mears PLC subcontracted this small amount of work out to SJ Electrical South East Limited. Barnet Homes subsequently paid Mears PLC £1,430.68  for the works undertaken.

Please provide the name and/or titles of who agreed this Contract with the supplier of these works and confirm whether they are still employed by Barnet Homes.

Barnet Homes entered into a long term partnering contract with Mears PLC in April 2012 for the provision of repair, maintenance and void property refurbishment works. The appointment of Mears was approved by the Barnet Homes Board following an OJEU compliant tendering exercise undertaken in 2011. We cannot confirm whom within Mears agreed the subcontract arrangements with SJ Electrical South East Limited in 2012.

Please confirm how the supplier was chosen, specifically whether there was a tender where multiple companies provided estimates/quotes prior to the final contract being given to whoever completed this work.
