White goods brand Whirlpool have confirmed that around 500,000 of their Hotpoint or Indesit washing machines are faulty.
The issue with some Hotpoint or Indesit washing machine models is a door locking fault that can cause overheating, and therefore present a potential fire risk.
If you think you have one these models of washing machine in your home, please visit the Whirlpool website, to confirm whether your Hotpoint or Indesit model is one of these models.
You will need to enter the model and serial number. Please bear in mind that there are reports of the Whirlpool website being very busy, so don’t be concerned if you can’t get online straighaway.

The London Fire Brigade is urging people to make sure they register their white goods and get the latest safety information on the products as part of their Totall Recall campaign to encourage retailers to make their white goods appliances as safe as possible.
