There is a growing need to support men with activities that help their mental health and wellbeing.

In England, around 1 in 8 men have a common mental health problem. This is exacerbated by the fact that men are reluctant to seek help with their mental health. However, there is research to suggest that men will seek and access advice when they feel that the help being offered is easily accessed, meaningful, and engaging.

This is where Barnet Council’s new group Men in Sheds could be a life-line. It is a group where men can get involved in a range of activities such as woodwork, gardening and restoration. Or men with those skills can share their knowledge!

Men in Sheds is an informal space where local men can get involved with community projects, socialise and learn new skills.

Looking for volunteering opportunities? The Men in Sheds project is also looking for volunteers to help co-ordinate the project.
