Why would a ‘humble washing’ machine and tumble dryer be such a valuable donation? And yet a local foodbank is reaping the benefits of a generous donation.

Our contractors AA Woods recently made a donation of white goods to the value of £1.3k to a local food bank.

As basic as these white-goods might seem, they are of enormous help to the Colindale foodbank. This is because clothes are also given out to people in need who attend the foodbank, and having a new washing machine would make sure all the clothes, tablecloths and tea-towels can be washed before being used.

Likewise, a tumble dryer would be of enormous help to the clothes, towels and blankets that are used in the night shelter.

Andy Cooley, a project manager from Trinity Church who work in partnership with the foodbank, said: “I wanted to take the opportunity to thank everyone involved at Barnet Homes for valuing us and for putting us forward to your own contractors for this amazing gift.

“I also want to say a huge thank you to all at AA woods. Your generous gift means we will be able to expand the work we are doing to help the most vulnerable people in the borough of Barnet. We have already hosted a dinner party for those who are struggling with debt problems and or housing issues and the dishwasher made the whole thing so much more viable.. Thank you all so much for investing in the community where it is needed most.”
