Christmas is just over a month away now and for many of us, the lead-up is full of fun preparations for the festive season.

Sadly though for many people, it’s the start of a terrifying build-up to incidents of domestic violence/abuse.

As part of a campaign to support the International Day of Elimination of Violence Against Women on Sunday 25th November, Barnet Council are having a free VAWG conference for interested parties. This event is being led on by Radlamah Canakiah, from Housing Options who is leading on Barnet Council’s Violence Against Women and Girls strategy.

The conference will cover how to identify, understand, challenge and eliminate harmful practices, including forced marriage, as well as how to report incidents of violence against women or girls to the right specialist service.

The packed programme will include specialist speakers, breakout sessions and networking opportunities.

We encourage members of the community, charity organisations, education services, police, housing professionals, members of the faith community and LGBT groups. All welcome.
