Last April The Hope of Childs Hill (THOCH) were the recipients of a £13,000 award from Transport for London to kick start a bike hire project for residents living in the Childs Hill area.

The great news is, THOCH’s Saturday cycling skills sessions have really taken off! So… on 8th July they launched Sunday cycling sessions (from 2:00-4:00pm) which has helped even more local families to benefit from free cycling.

And the heatwave London has been enjoying recently hasn’t deterred residents from having a go at cycling and THOCH is delighted to report they have had 60 people take part in the cycling sessions over the past two weeks.

At every session, there are some great stories that play out with many participants who excitedly state their joy of being able to ride a bike for the first time. Thanks to the main instructor Alex and the colleagues who assist him every week for bringing happiness to these local residents.

Barnet Council have allocated 10 Sheffield cycle stands in Basing Hill park which will enhance the experience of cyclists in the park by having a dedicated place to secure their bikes.
