As of 16 May, anyone needing to apply for benefits in Barnet will have to apply for Universal Credit, widely known as ‘UC’.

The following benefits, Housing Benefit, JobSeekers Allowance, Income Support, Employment Support Allowance, Working Tax Credits or Child Tax Credits all now come as one ‘package’ that is paid monthly.

If you are already on one of those benefits and have had a change of circumstances, you will also need to make a to apply for Universal Credit instead. 

Today, Michael Morley Director of Jobcentre Plus in London and Essex visited the Jobcentre Plus in New Barnet and met staff from the office as well as officers from Welfare Reform Taskforce. These teams have all been preparing to ensure you get the right support.
