The Hope of Childs Hill (THOCH) recently received a £13k award from Transport for London (TFL) to start a Wheelio bike hire project for residents living in Childs Hill.

Project Wheelio’s official launch happened on the hottest weekend of the year we have had so far, so the project was already off to a ‘wheely’ good start.

The 20 riders registered with Cycle Confident and were a real mixed bunch of age groups (9- 66 years-old!) and cycling ability. Cycle Confident is a training organisation whose aim it is to give residents in London the skills they need to ride a bike with – confidence.

They provided two instructors and a mechanic. Cycle Confident taught and helped all the riders to really enjoy the experience of cycling. The Police (Safer Transport Team) was also on hand to advise residents on bike safety issues and security marked five bikes for them.

Residents taking part on the day certainly enjoyed the warm weather cycling and got plenty of practice!

Project Wheelio works in partnership with BOOST Childs Hill to enrich the lives of residents in Childs Hill by creating a healthier and happier community.
