On the 25th November, the world marks International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, also known as White Ribbon Day. The campaign also strongly encourages men to get behind the movement and speak out against violence perpetrated on women and girls.

This week, The Mayor of Barnet, Brian Salinger attended an information stall promoting our Barnet Homes’ Domestic Violence and Abuse Advice One Stop Shop – we were also joined by one of our partners, Jewish Womens’ Aid. The event took place at Brent Cross Shopping Centre.

White Ribbon Day is a global campaign we can all support by wearing a white ribbon.

Sadly the build-up to the festive period is merry for some, but likelihood of domestic abuse increases through conflicts during that time for others.

If you need advice about a domestic violence or abuse situation our One Stop Shop is open every Thursday from 9:30am – 12:30pm at Barnet House. You can also call 020 359 4749.

There are more useful domestic violence victim support contacts here, including emergency numbers.
