The running track for Urban Gamez famous 60m dash on Friday 1 hasn’t even been laid yet, but we’ve just had some exciting news.

Kyle Langford, who was beaten into 4th place by just 0.04 seconds in the 800m final of the World Championships at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park will be opening the Gamez this year!

The 21-year-old trains with the Barnet Harriers and is a local lad, even though he now lives in Brighton.

Kyle is looking forward to spreading a positive message about why it is so important for children and young people to lead activelifestyles. Kyle will be joined by the Mayor of Barnet, Brian Salinger.

We had an absolutely stand-out Gamez last year, but staff at Barnet Homes as well as our partners Morgan Sindall, have been working hard to ensure there are plenty activities to get some medal-winning performances from the young people taking part.

Some of the activities happening at Urban Games 2017 include 2 boxing coaches from Middlesex University, table-tennis, climbing wall and tug-of-war.

Urban Gamez is one of our most popular community event,s so we are looking forward to seeing families cheering on children as they take part in a sporting event.

Good luck and remember, it’s not the winning but the taking part that counts!
