Earlier this month we asked residents to be aware of individuals or organisations posing as fire safety professionals on behalf of Barnet Homes (or our contractors) to ‘sell’ services and goods that do not exist.

Or in a most recent case, gain access to your home. This week a man calling himself ‘Andy’ told one resident he was working on behalf of Barnet Homes to gain access to her home.

This was definitely a fraudster and we urge residents not to give access or personal details like bank details to anyone claiming to be doing any fire safety works/matters on behalf of Barnet Homes.

We want to re-iterate that should you ask for identification before letting anyone you don’t know into your property. Barnet Homes, our contractors and council officials who visit a property will always carry identification. If you don’t feel sure, do not let them in. You can always call us and verify whether we are due to make a visit of this nature.

If you have been affected by this, or any other type of fraud, please report it to Action Fraud by visiting www.actionfraud.police.uk or by calling 0300 123 2040.
