In the summer of 2015 a pilot project called BOOST (Burnt Oak Opportunity Support Team) launched. The project, whose aim is to support people to find work and access a wide range of support in their communities, was so successful it received council funding for a further year.

Now a spin-off project, again funded by Barnet Council, has started to help the residents of Childs Hill, in Finchley and Golders Green, to tackle levels of employment, training, volunteering and access to benefits.

The Childs Hill Employment Project started its first job club in December and will now be running job clubs every 3rd Tuesday of every month at the Childs Hill Children’s Centre from 1pm – 3pm.

Once a full team for the Childs Hill Employment project has been recruited, the plan is for the project to expand into additional venues in the Childs Hill ward and Whitefields area.

Like BOOST, the Childs Hill Jobs Team will have support from our partners Jobcentre Plus, Future Path and Cambridge Education (Post-16 education employment and skills). The project will be also working with residents associations, community groups and encourage local volunteering opportunities.

We will officially launch the Childs Hill Jobs Team, complete with new name, by Spring 2017. We will keep you posted on how the Childs Hill Jobs Team develops.
