Did you know that Your Choice Barnet has its very own project dedicated to supporting adults with learning disabilities?
Your Choice Barnet’s employment project also welcomes referrals to help people with sensory and physical disabilities as well as those with mental health conditions or on the autism spectrum.
The project can support these adults with job coaching, pre-employment training, work trials, travel training, benefits advice and engagement with prospective employers. Job help can be tailored to suit each client’s needs.
As it’s Learning Disability Week, this gives us the opportunity to shine a light on someone the Your Choice Barnet employment project has got into the world of work.
The project is currently supporting Andrew, who has received travel training and job coaching. He also got help to purchase professional clothes for work and some guidance on not getting to work so early!
Andrew is thrilled with the structure and independence that having a job gives him: “I will miss my job coach so much, but now I know I can do it on my own. I am my own man and its a good feeling.”
