Dawn Smith died on 17 October after she had been unwell for some time; she was only 55 years old but had enjoyed her family, her friends and her home life to the full.

Friends from Supported Living gathered with Dawn’s family at Golders Green Crematorium on Friday afternoon to say their final farewells.  Dawn’s nephew summed Dawn up so well by describing her as mischievous and lighting up a room by her presence, what more can one say?  He spoke about her love of food, of giving hugs, of dressing up in her best frocks and wearing glittering necklaces, of about being boss and the enjoyment she got from music and we left the chapel to The Spice Girls song Wannabe.  That was Dawn.

Dawn lived at New Fieldways, a residential home, before moving to September Court when it was brand new block of flats in October 2006, here she shared a flat with Tess; after a few moves between them Dawn and Tess and Wendy ended up living very happily together at their ‘Leadbeaters’ flat; she will be sadly missed by these special friends.

Georgia, Geraldine, Yemi and Bukunola supported the ladies at their home; other staff that have worked with Dawn are Michelle, Shirley, Damian, Rachel, Eve, Marie, Marilyn, Philomena and Jane; they will all miss her big personality and being told what to do!.  Her friends Patsy, Ian, Craig, Danny, Denise, Michael C and Michael B, David and Tony will find it hard to fill the gap a friend like Dawn has left, she was so welcoming, a pleasure to be, a real nice girl.
