Our Sheltered Housing Team organise a calendar of events that keep our older residents socially busy throughout the year. But why was this year’s Autumn tea dance especially busy?

Many of the residents from our Sheltered Housing schemes who regularly come to these events were there. But we were delighted to welcome extra service users from our Your Choice Barnet Day Centres, newly moved in residents from Ansell Court and the Mayor of Barnet.

Totteridge Councillor, Caroline Stock, is enjoying her role as Mayor of Barnet – she took the time to speak to as many residents as possible and they were very excited to meet her.

Cllr Stock’s special focus will be on increasing health and wellbeing in Barnet. She is currently a champion of Healthy Heritage Walks, which take place all over the borough.

Cllr Stock said: “I am very pleased to meet so many residents from Your Choice Barnet and even more pleased to see older residents taking the opportunity to get out and socialise with so much enthusiasm.”

Walking is a form of exercise accessible for all ages – but our residents took the exercise theme one step further by taking to the dance floor in droves at St Mary’s Church!

There’s plenty more dancing, art exhibtions and get-togethers planned for Sheltered Housing residents as Barnet Homes and Your Choice Barnet are supporting Barnet Council’s Silver Week from 1st– 7th October. Watch this space for more information.
