As part of our commitment to ensuring that new homes are meeting the needs of the local community, we are proposing to introduce a Local Lettings Policy in Barnet. A Local Lettings Policy would allow us to allocate certain properties through special arrangements. We want to introduce one to allow us to give priority to council tenants, with an assessed need to move, priority for new build properties on their estate. This would promote family and well-being as local residents could continue to maintain links with their established community and retain their support network.
We want to give everyone – regardless of whether they are a council tenant or not – the opportunity to have their say on the new proposal before a final decision is made. More information on the consultation and the online questionnaire to take part can be found here.
