Just in case you didn’t know…The Royal Wedding takes place at the weekend (Saturday 19th May).

In keeping with the theme, Prince Harry and Ms Meghan Markle have requested that their big day will reflect their personalities (rather than royal convention and formalities).

In that ‘community focused’ spirit, many of our services and community groups are hosting events to celebrate the Royal Wedding, in their own special way. We will share photos and stories of these events, where possible!

  • 18 May: the afternoon before the Royal Wedding, Flower Lane staff and customers will be having afternoon tea to celebrate

  • 18 May: Barnet Homes Garden Clubs/Sheltered Housing/Vale Court are marking The Royal Wedding plus centenary celebrations of the Royal Air Force (RAF) Museum

  • 19 May: North Road Community Association Royal Wedding party

  • 23 June: Agatha House (Your Choice Barnet) Midsummer lunch

The Big Lunch

The Big Lunch is taking place on Sunday 3rd June.

If you are a Barnet Homes resident and you would like to organise your own street party to celebrate the Royal Wedding and community spirit in general – please contact us on getinvolved@barnethomes.org

More info about The Big Lunch here.

It doesn’t have to be on the 3rd June though – some of our residents’ associations will be organising their own Big Lunches/Street Parties over the summer. We will share those dates for you once they are confirmed.

You might also want to note although the nation is not going to be given a Bank Holiday to celebrate with the Royal couple this time, pub opening hours have been ‘relaxed’ until 1am.
